Sailor Moon Supers: 4 (Sailor Moon Supers)

And they call it a legend. - Indeed. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, the romantic saga of starcrossed lovers intertwined with astronomy, mythology, talking cats, past lives, intergalactic enemies and beautiful warriors in unbelievably short mini skirts was a phenomenal hit in Japan when it was first created over 10 years ago, its international fan base is just as impressive. It’s going through a revival right now in Japan, with a live-action version of it on TV and new editions of the manga out in shops. I wouldn t blame you if you first came across Sailor Moon by watching the dubbed anime and found it not to your liking because the original Japanese version is far superior (especially the music!). The manga, which ran alongside the anime, is 18 volumes of gorgeous artwork. The storylines are similar but the manga is slightly darker and the cast look extra sumptuous under Naoko Takeuchi san’s fine, flowing drawing style. This volume (vol 15 or Supers book 4) is the last in the Dead Moon Circus arch of the story, staging the final battle between the senshi and the evil Queen Nehenenia to save Elysion (the paradise world hidden in Earth’s centre). You also find out whether it’s a happy ending for Chibiusa and the yummy bishounen guardian of Elysion, Helios. Highly recommended? You bet. Just don’t blame me when you go mad trying to collect all 18 volumes of the whole story.
